The motorway toll is the amount paid by the user for the use of the motorway, as provided for by the Italian Highway Code.
Toll revenues are used by the Concessionaire to repay the investments made and to cover the costs of upgrading, maintaining and managing the motorway sections under its responsibility.
How the toll is calculated
The toll is calculated by multiplying the unit rate by the number of kilometres travelled (the final amount is rounded up or down to the nearest ten euro cents). The applicable rate depends on the type of vehicle (there are 5 different classes) and on the characteristics of the motorway sections (flat terrain or mountain sections).
On 1 January each year, if the Concessionaire has achieved all the objectives set out in the Financial Plan, the unit toll rate is updated as provided for in the Concession Agreement with the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport. The tariff adjustment calculation (based on the Convention currently in force) takes into account the actual inflation rate and the progress of the works.
The annual increase of the unit rate applies uniformly and without any discretion to all sections of the network. However, due to rounding to the nearest ten euro cents, the final toll increase between a given entry and exit point may be higher, lower or even zero compared to the annual increase applied to the unit rate. It may therefore occur that, on certain sections, the toll does not increase for several years and that the annual adjustments are recovered at a later stage.
The tariff system applied complies with the provisions established by the Transport Regulation Authority in Resolution No. 133/2018. Autostrade Alto Adriatico took over the motorway concession on 1 July 2023 (the concession had previously been held by Autovie Venete S.p.A.), and no tariff adjustments were applied in 2024 or 2025. The previous motorway operator had also not applied any tariff increases since 2019.

Toll collection methods
Autostrade Alto Adriatico offers users a wide range of payment methods.
It is possible to choose dynamic Telepass-style tolling systems, or to use Credit Cards belonging to the Visa, Mastercard and American Express circuits, as well as Bancomat or Debit Cards belonging to the FastPay, Maestro and Vpay networks, without entering a PIN and with no additional fees. Viacard cards—both account-based and prepaid—may also be used. At manned toll lanes, tolls may be paid in euros or in foreign currency. Change is always given in euros.
There are several Toll Service Providers that offer stop-free toll payment services, in compliance with the European Electronic Toll Service (EETS) and with the Servizio Interoperabile di Telepedaggio per Mezzi Pesanti (SIT-MP).
Below is a list of accredited Toll Service Providers:
- Axxès SAS – (Français) Electronic toll collection for trucks in France and Europe | Axxès
- DKV Euro Service GmbH - DKV Euro Service GmbH
- Telepass S.p.A.

Discounts
Under an agreement signed in 2017 between the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, AISCAT and the participating Concessionaires, a tariff modulation was authorised for motorcycle users, providing a 30% reduction on the toll amount otherwise due for vehicles in the current reference class (Class A). This measure has been renewed annually and is currently extended until 31/12/2025.
The application of this modulation is reserved for customers who pay using a tolling service, and, with reference to this payment method, access is guaranteed both to customers of the national Telepass service provider and to customers of the EETS (European Electronic Toll Service) Providers that participate in the initiative.
"Autostrade Alto Adriatico has confirmed—continuing the commitment previously undertaken by the former concessionaire Autovie Venete S.p.A.—its participation in the initiative promoted by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport for motorcyclists, who are entitled to a 30% discount on the motorway toll, provided they use a tolling device associated exclusively with the registered licence plate of the motorcycle, which will be photographed at each toll transaction.
To benefit from the discount, the customer must request information from their Toll Service Provider. Participation in the initiative excludes the possibility of benefiting from any other discounts already in place."
